After several failures, Aaron learned how to build a brand from scratch to nearly 74,000 Instagram followers in just a year and a half.

Define your goals.
Before you first post on Instagram why you want your brand to be on that platform.
What are your goals? What do you want to achieve through Instagram?

- In Aaron’s case, he sought to build brand awareness on Instagram and his focus was on finding and helping other men with short stature.
The goals and objectives vary depending on your brand. The good news is that goals can change as you grow, so we recommend that you set at least one goal when you start.
Define your approach/theme
Once you have defined your goals, you need to find out what your theme or focus is on Instagram.
One mistake we often notice is individuals or businesses not having a theme. All they do is post phrases. This is the perfect recipe for disaster as you will not be able to stand out.
Find a theme that fits YOUR personality. Aaron focused on style at first. He shared pictures of his everyday outfits. Now he shares pictures of food, too.
Focus on a theme that matches your brand. Don’t try to do everything at first. We want your fans to know who you are and what you do.

If you don’t know exactly what topic you want to follow then just do a Twitter search for inspiration. There are so many great accounts out there that you’re bound to find something. If you are a lover of yoga who travels then you will be the travelling yogi.
Create a Style Pattern
What is a style pattern? A style pattern is your signature on Instagram. It’s the style that defines you on this platform.
Some Instagrammers follow a white look. Others follow darker patterns. Some incorporate phrases every two or three publications. A good way to stand out is to mix your content.
Some call it a theme, we call it a style pattern.
A great example of this is Liment. I love how they combine a neutral color palette in their publications to highlight their dishes.
Publish consistent, quality content
Publishing regularly on social networks is practically obligatory. If you want to stand out then you need to publish regularly.
When Aaron first started, he published every day.
The best way to do this is to follow a calendar and plan ahead. I recommend that you publish once a day and plan at least two weeks in advance of your content.
If you want to publish fresh content then you can postpone your publications. This works quite well.
